Caldera Delivery Co.—a story developed as a Creative Student Thesis Project—follows Thea, a 23-year-old woman who left home in her renovated tiny house van after a blowout fight with her mother. She finds herself magically transported to the fantastical island, Isola, where she must find the missing pieces of the Reaper Spellblade: Skycarver to find her way back home. Along the way, she realizes that credit and debit card won’t do as far as currency goes on the island, so she starts a delivery company with the help of local Isolan, Anek, the amnesiac talking key that brought her here in the first place, Jack, and her trusted ferret companion, Muse. The Co. will help Thea navigate this strange world and aid her on her quest, but trouble seems to follow them wherever the pieces are found; they are not the only ones looking for the pieces of the sword.
Caldera Delivery Co. is a story about navigating the transitional phase in your life between childhood and adulthood, as well as the meaning of home and family. In this cross between Percy Jackson and Bee and Puppycat our cast of travelers learn that they need each other to find their way home from a long time being lost.
When Thea Castro finds herself magically transported to a fantastical realm, she learns very quickly that every world has rules—like “cash or card” doesn’t really fly on Isola. To make sure the first thing she does in this world isn’t dine and dash she offers her services where she will meet her greatest companions on her journey and discover the path she must take if she ever wants to return to her own world.
Knowing now that there are other people looking for the pieces of Jack’s body, the Company goes to the biggest marketplace on the island to market their Delivery services while following Jack to their next find. On this step they meet a stranger who offers their help, claiming to know more about where the pieces may be. Could this person be the secret to the end of our Company’s quest?
Thea and Anek begin their travels across the island of Isola together but with an extra person in the space Thea’s van conversion starts to feel a bit like a sardine can. As she takes to finding a solution at a magic shop, Anek takes Jack and starts looking for the missing pieces of Jack’s sword body.
Thea and Anek help Blush, the local librarian, with their missing order of books, but learn some… interesting information about a sword called Skycarver that may be connected to Jack and his past. In the meantime, Blush has something that could aid our main party on their quest, but Thea and Anek have different thoughts on how to approach the topic than Muse and Jack do.
On a seemingly normal delivery, the Company finds themselves at an exclusive event where the magnanimous Lady Balor and her mysterious part-timers seem to all be after powerful magic items. One thing is for certain though: someone will be leaving with another piece of Skycarver.
